Who are Mango Son?
Mango Son, is a tasty Latin rhythm. Music made for all people.
Who makes up Mango Son?
We are 7 people in the band: Carlos González on drums, Wolfang Colmenares on minor percussion, Danny Figueredo on voice, Jesús on trumpet, Leonel Figueredo on saxophone, Antonio Noda on guitar and Leonardo Guedez on bass.
We’re like brothers! We are currently separated by our situation as a country; even so, we are always in contact to find out about each other, in Venezuela we are only Danny and me.
How long have you been making music?
¡Uff! We already lost count. I think since 2006.
How do you define your music style?
We define it as the “Ritmo sabroso y latino” (Tasty Latin Rhythm.) Our music is based on the fusion of different musical genres, such as reggae, rock, ska, funk, and salsa among others.
What are your biggest musical influences?
We have many influences: Desorden Público, King Chango, Gondwana, Cafres, Santana, among others.
What sparks your creativity?
The passion for music. Lately, I have been listening to all kinds of music to inspire us.
Tell us about what it’s been like working with Indieblock Records and Emanate.
It has been very rewarding. We want to take the opportunity to thank Emanate, and Indieblock Records, also our great friend Kevin Damken for all the support. It is very interesting that there are such projects for musicians who can express their art and be rewarded in a more just and equitable way.
Are you currently working on new music?
Yes. Although it is difficult because of the distance because some members are in other countries, such as Mexico, Argentina, Peru. We are always on the lookout to evolve and try to introduce more genres to our tasty Latin rythm.
What are your goals?
For our music to be heard in all parts of the world. It will be possible thanks to Emanate.
