Tell us about yourself? Who is AOSM?

AOSM are my initials:
Alan
Omar
Soto
Medrano

I’m 18 years old, living in Reynosa, Tamaulipas in Mexico, and I’m looking forward to entertaining people with my music. I consider this both a hobby and a life plan. I want people that listen to Deep House, Tech House, Bass House, Future House, and G-House to feel comfortable with my music.

I’m not only an artist; I’m a friendly person that wants to help people when they have a terrible day. I want to be that person that you see me walking down the street and say, “there goes a great person; someone that cares for others.”

Growing up, I was bullied a lot. I was the victim of those who enjoy making others suffer like they had no other thing to do. Today, I’ve devoted myself to helping others when they are feeling down, and creating great music is one way to please them and lift them up.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is a Sincronizada, from a taqueria named Tacos Ducks. I consider it a delicacy. I also enjoy pizza, hot dogs, and steamed vegetables with white sauce spaghetti.

What is your favorite movie?

I currently have no favorite movie; I just watch various genres like terror, family films, action, comedy, and suspense.

How long have you been making music? What made you start?

I began almost 6 years ago — I was 12. I got inspired by the world’s new talents. Some 15-year-olds were on the rise and on the right path to become professional music producers. I knew a thing or two about music production; still, these young people were my inspiration to keep pursuing a music career. Little by little, I’ve been practicing for years until I mastered the art of sound design and built enough creativity to create my own songs.

What are your biggest musical influences?

Among the artists that inspire me to make music, you can find:

Don Diablo, for adding happy and futuristic vibes to his songs.

Mariana Bo, for her determination in being a violinist and becoming one of the best DJs and producers in Mexico.

Joyride, Skrillex, and Ragemode, for their creativity to add randomness that goes along perfectly with Old School House.

Dave Winnel, for his happy and crazy way of making songs in the Tech House and Future House genre.

The list goes on with FERGO, Mesto, Martin Garrix, and many others.

What’s your music-making process? What sparks your creativity?

First of all, I work with FL20. Every time I search other songs for inspiration and to recreate some parts of the songs but in my own style. Secondly, I search for vocals, like phrases or acapella, and look for a happy or angry tone depending on my working genre. I process the vocals with a bit crusher to make it sound like it came from a video game. Next, I use Serum, and I modify random sounds to be heard as if they were from out of this world. With all the sounds in the mixer, I start lowering the volume, so no clipping problems arise in the song — that’s an advice a mentor of mine named Fiko shared with me. He taught me a lot about finishing a piece fast, using shortcuts to facilitate the process.

What have you been listening to recently?

I’ve listened recently to Ragemode, Luis Torres, and Alok’s songs to take out the bad vibes with a good Deep House.

Talk to us about your latest release, Feels Like.

Feels Like is a song I created thinking of how I could make a piece that was a pleasure to listen to. I worked on this song for months. I was having difficulty finishing it due to a lack of inspiration. Still, some friends gave me some production tips to keep improving with a Future House focus. Although it might be repetitive, the vocals give it a good groove.

Are you currently working on new music?

I’m currently working on more songs to make you move and vibe. I’m working in one Bass House collaboration with an artist named Styven; we’re looking forward to people liking it and listening to it again and again.

What are your goals as a musician? What are you striving to achieve?

I consider Emanate giving me the chance to meet Dave Winnel and his team, one of my most significant achievements. It’s an honor for me to have him as a mentor because I will polish my production skills. I thank my dear friend Chevs for introducing me to Emanate and it’s benefits. I’m grateful for their way of compensating artists, distributing music, and opening up incredible opportunities for aspiring artists.

Where can we listen to your music?

You can listen to my music on Emanate and in all of your favorite streaming platforms.
